Youth football offers kids and teens in Berkshire County an exciting way to stay active while developing skills in one of America’s most popular sports. At CRA, our youth football program focuses on teaching kids the fundamentals of the game, like passing, blocking, tackling, and teamwork, while encouraging respect, discipline, and sportsmanship. Football also helps children improve their physical fitness, coordination, and confidence. The CRA has been providing youth football programs for years, offering kids of all skill levels a chance to grow and compete. It’s more than a game—it’s a place to grow.

Youth Football Programs at the CRA
During the fall, the CRA’s in-season youth football program offers leagues for various age groups and skill levels. Players are introduced to the basics of the game while working on key skills such as blocking, tackling, and teamwork. These leagues provide a mix of fun and competition, allowing kids to learn the sport in a positive, inclusive environment.
In addition to league fees, a General Junior Membership is required through the end of the season. If you don’t have a current membership, you’ll be prompted to purchase one during registration.
Flag Football
This is an instructional league for boys and girls in grades K-4 only which teaches the basic skills and concepts of the game.
NO score or league standings are kept. Two games per week (1 weeknight and 1 Saturday morning) at Pinegrove Park. Teams will be chosen in mid-August. Practices will start the last week in August. Games start early September and end late October.
Pee Wee Football
A tackle football league for ages 7 to 9 as of August 31. Teams will compete in the Berkshire County Football League and are only open to Central Berkshire Regional School District students unless players have previously played tackle football in Dalton. Practices begin in early August. Additional information can be found on the 12th Man.
Junior Football
A tackle football league for ages 10 & 11 as of August 31. Teams will compete in the Berkshire County Football League and are only open to Central Berkshire Regional School District students unless players have previously played tackle football in Dalton. Practices begin in early August. Additional information can be found on the 12th Man.
Senior Football
A tackle football league for ages 12 & 13 as of August 31. Teams will compete in the Berkshire County Football League and are only open to Central Berkshire Regional School District students unless players have previously played tackle football in Dalton. Summer Football Camp
Football Camp is an excellent opportunity for kids to immerse themselves in the game during the summer months. The camp focuses on skill-building, conditioning, and team development in a fun and supportive setting. Campers will learn essential football techniques such as passing, catching, and tackling while improving their fitness and coordination. This camp is perfect for both new players and those looking to take their game to the next level.

About Our Youth Football Players
Youth football players at the CRA come from throughout the Central Berkshires, including Pittsfield, Dalton, Lanesborough, and Hinsdale. They join the program eager to develop their football skills, teamwork, and confidence. Kids love the fun, high-energy practices and games, where they not only improve in passing, catching, tackling, and footwork but also form lasting friendships. The CRA fosters a welcoming community, helping kids enjoy healthy competition and build a lifelong love for the game.

Most teams practice 1-2 times per week, depending on the sport and level of play.
Games are usually scheduled on weekends, though some leagues may have weekday games as well. Schedules will be shared before the season begins.
