The Community Recreation Association (CRA) Board of Trustees is composed of dedicated members from our community who provide governance, oversight, and strategic guidance to ensure the long-term success of CRA programs and facilities. Working closely with the Executive Director, the Board helps shape policies, advise on operations, and support the organization in fulfilling its mission to create a welcoming, active, and connected community for all.

About Our Board
The Board of Trustees of consists of volunteers from our community who meet on a regular basis to look at the long term goals of the CRA and to provide input and support to the Executive Director. In addition, the board consists of honorary board members that may not be involved in the long term planning, but have a unique talent or skill to share with the board.
Roles & Responsibilities
The Community Recreation Association, Inc. (CRA) Board of Trustees is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the CRA, including the maintenance and upkeep of the Community House, Mill + Main, and the Dalton Youth Center (DYC). Board members play a vital role in supporting the organization’s mission, guiding its programs and facilities, and helping ensure its long-term success.
What Board Members Do

Attend board meetings (approximately 5 per year, plus occasional special meetings if needed)

Review financial statements (sent to members in advance of each meeting)

Review committee reports prepared by CRA management staff

Help shape both short- and long-term policies

Participate actively on at least one sub-committee

Volunteer at fundraising events (e.g., Gib Kittredge event, golf tournament, etc.)
Board Sub-Committees
Program Committee
Recommends annual membership rates, evaluates existing programs, and suggests new program ideas.
Capital Committee
Plans yearly improvements for the building and grounds and presents them to the full board for approval.
Human Resources (H.R.) Committee
Works with the Executive Director on policies, procedures, and employment-related matters.
Long-Term Planning Committee
Helps shape the CRA’s 5–10 year strategic plan.
Finance Committee
Reviews financial reports and advises the Executive Director and staff on financial planning and practices.
Fundraising Committee
Supports the development of fundraising strategies and helps identify new fundraising opportunities.
