Gib Kittredge Auction
Gib Kittredge Auction & Award Ceremony
Each spring, the CRA hosts the Gib Kittredge Auction & Award Ceremony—an evening that brings the Central Berkshire community together to celebrate, honor, and support one another. Named in memory of Gilbert “Gib” Kittredge, a devoted community leader, this signature event recognizes individuals and organizations who embody the same spirit of service, commitment, and generosity that defined Gib’s life and legacy.
The evening includes an award ceremony and silent and live auctions featuring exciting items and experiences—all to support the CRA’s programs and Scholarship Fund. Proceeds help keep our programs running and support families who need financial assistance, ensuring everyone in our community can enjoy all the CRA has to offer.
Whether you’re bidding, celebrating, or simply enjoying the festivities, the Gib Kittredge Auction & Award Ceremony is a powerful reminder of the strength and heart of the Central Berkshire community.

The Heart of the Community
The CRA is more than an organization—it’s a pillar in the community. For over 100 years, the CRA has provided a place for connection, growth, wellness, and joy for people of all ages. From youth sports and after-school programs to fitness classes and community events, the CRA is here to serve—and to strengthen—the community we love.
But none of it would be possible without the incredible support of the people who make it all happen.
The Gib Kittredge Auction & Award Ceremony is our way of celebrating the heart and soul of the CRA: our volunteers. Whether you’re a past or present award winner, a coach, a committee member, or someone who simply shows up to help—you are what makes the CRA possible. Your dedication, time, and passion fuel everything we do.
We are proud to honor you, and we are deeply grateful. The CRA belongs to this community, and it thrives because of you.
Our Community Leadership and Service Awards
The CRA’s annual awards have evolved over time, growing from a simple recognition of community service into a cherished tradition that highlights the extraordinary contributions of individuals and organizations that go above and beyond to make the Central Berkshire community a better place. What began as a way to honor the legacy of Gilbert “Gib” Kittredge has since expanded to encompass a variety of awards, each focusing on different aspects of community leadership and service.
Gib Kittredge Memorial Award
The CRA’s highest honor, the Gib Kittredge Memorial Award, is presented annually to an individual or organization who exemplifies outstanding service, generosity, and commitment to the Central Berkshire community. Named in memory of Gilbert “Gib” Kittredge—a lifelong Dalton resident and dedicated community supporter—this award recognizes those who truly embody the CRA’s mission of building a stronger, more connected community through service and leadership.
John Kittredge Community Support Award
This award recognizes individuals or groups who have made significant behind-the-scenes contributions to the CRA and the broader community. Like its namesake, John Kittredge, recipients of this award provide steady, dependable support that helps sustain the CRA’s programs and events year after year.
W. Murray Crane Community Service Award
Presented to individuals who demonstrate exceptional volunteerism and community service, the W. Murray Crane Award celebrates those who consistently give their time, energy, and heart to making our community a better place. This award honors the legacy of civic responsibility and generosity exemplified by W. Murray Crane.
Norman “Pop” Smith Youth of the Year Award
This award honors young individuals who have shown exceptional character, leadership, and service within the CRA and the wider community. Named after long-time CRA supporter Norman “Pop” Smith, this recognition celebrates youth who embody the values of teamwork, kindness, and community engagement.
