Spring & Summer Programs

During the spring and summer months, the CRA offers organized youth and teen baseball leagues for ages 6-16. All leagues emphasize skill-building, teamwork, and friendly competition, with practices and games tailored to suit various skill levels.

In addition to league fees, a General Junior Membership is required through the end of the season. If you don’t have a current membership, you’ll be prompted to purchase one during registration.

Pete Cimini Baseball League

A baseball league for children ages 4-7.  This is an instructional league; no score or standings are kept.  Teams may practice occasionally.  Games are Saturday mornings and occasional weeknights. Coaches pitch using a safety ball.  League begins April and ends in late June.

Pete Cimini was a beloved baseball coach and teacher who dedicated his life to mentoring young athletes and students.  He instilled a passion for baseball in his players, emphasizing teamwork, sportsmanship, and dedication. His leadership and influence extended beyond the high school level, as he played a key role in shaping youth baseball in Dalton. In honor of his lasting contributions to the community and the sport, the CRA named its instructional baseball league in his honor to ensure his legacy continues for future generations. Coach Cimini was inducted into the CRA Athletic Hall of Fame in 2023.

Galusha Baseball League

A baseball league for children ages 7-11 that provides a fun and supportive environment where young players can learn the fundamentals of baseball.  This league focuses on teaching the basics of the game — such as hitting, fielding, and team strategy — while providing a healthy level of competition.  It’s the perfect place for kids who are new to the sport or want to improve their skills before moving up to Dalton-Hinsdale Little League.  Coaches are dedicated to creating a positive atmosphere where every player gets the opportunity to grow, build confidence, and have fun while discovering the joys of baseball.  First half of the season we will be using a pitching machine as a pitcher.  Coaches will help develop pitchers for the second half of the season.

Any 11 year old wishing to pitch in the Galusha league must try out for Little League first.  Score and standings are kept, and an umpire is provided.  All games are played at Chamberlain Park on Saturday mornings and early afternoon, and 1 game during the week.  Teams may practice once per week.  League begins the first weekend in May and ends mid-June.

Mark Galusha, affectionately known as the “Spirit of the Warriors,” was a dedicated team manager for the school’s football, basketball, and baseball teams. His unwavering support and enthusiasm significantly contributed to the athletic programs, leaving a lasting impression on the community. In recognition of his contributions, the CRA named its minor league baseball program the “Mark Galusha Baseball League” in his honor. Further cementing his legacy, Galusha was inducted into the CRA Athletic Hall of Fame in 2023.
